FOILS + DIES/Vintage Pressworks will open its doors for designers and AIGA conference attendants. Come and experience a letterpress shop like you have never seen. From tons of wood type and old caps and cuts to restored presses from the 1800's, F+D/VPW provides inspiration for every designer.

Always imagined yourself a closet pressman from the past? Come to the Design Fair and get your chance. Using an antique Washington handpress, you'll have a chance to make your own commemorative “Next” letterpress pieces directly from mag-plate onto different types of paper stock. The classic toggle-action press is the perfect tool for short runs with a fine-art finish. We'll use different paper types to see how they effect the final product. Take home your own finished pieces. We're sure you'll be "impressed."

Demonstrating artistry that surpasses the Wanted posters of their western heritage, Vintage Pressworks is a golden nugget in the pan of Denver printing. Spend Sunday capturing your thoughts on the conference in a hands-on workshop lead by expert artisans. Shake the shackles of the mouse and keyboard to roll up your sleeves and explore wood, metal type, ornaments from both the upper and lower cases, handmade papers, color and composition. Collaborate with fellow designers to create a keepsake reflecting your experiences here, while learning how old techniques can spark creative fires.
